Only 5 more weeks of school here in Arizona, can’t even believe it! Feels like I was just creating the back to school teacher gift and here we are at the end of the year, ready to celebrate all the hard work our teachers have put in for the year!
I originally made over this letter board for the beginning of the school year but if you’ve followed me for a bit, you know how I love to repurpose a good DIY.
I’ve watched my nieces’ teachers use their school themed letter board all year long so I know for a fact that this is the perfect teacher appreciation gift idea! It’s certain to be a hit with any teacher that’s going to be teaching again next year!

Materials:
- Letter Board (you can also do a larger version as shown here)
- 4 wooden rulers
- Hand saw & miter box
- Glue gun
- ABC & Apple cutouts
- Extra letters (optional)
How-To Video:
In this video, I show using the letter boards from Hobby Lobby. It looks like the original (and larger) boards I was using are back in stock and can be found here. Using these boards makes your project about $15! Since the board is larger you will need ONE extra ruler. More detailed instructions can be found here.
In the video I show using a hand saw and miter box to cut the rulers. If you’re lucky, you might be able to cut them with an all purpose scissors. I wasn’t so lucky this time but it’s worth a shot before you get out the saw!
To make life easy, I used my Cricut machine to cutout the ABC’s and apple with cardstock. Cutting by hand would work too!
As far as the extra letters, the board itself comes with plastic letters but I like the smaller letters so you can fit more phrases on the board. Whether you buy the extra letters or not, make sure to give the letters to your teacher in a little bag so they can continue creating phrases and using the board for next year!
As I mentioned, I have LOVED seeing how my nieces’ teachers use their letter boards every day. I know people say teachers really want wine, gift cards, etc but I think this is one DIY teacher gift idea that will continue to be used over and over again. And you can’t beat the affordable price point either! Whether it’s from one student or the whole class, this is a foolproof teacher appreciation gift that any teacher would LOVE!
