I Heart You Valentine’s Party

If you’re looking to entertain your toddlers this wknd, put a life size alphabet on the wall. It was the only entertainment needed at this Valentine’s Day party.

I’ve always loved this print from Hobby Lobby so I thought it’d be fun to recreate it in party form. I used chipboard letters (also from Hobby Lobby) covered in shades of pink and red cardstock. With a little color change, it was the perfect backdrop to emphasize how much we “heart” our party guests! I didn’t expect the kids to be so entertained by the wall, but for 2-4 year olds, it turned into a fun little game for practicing their ABC’s.

I used my Cricut Machine to create the XOXO cutouts on the milk bottles. If you haven’t noticed yet, I LOVE decorating milk bottles. They’re so versatile and can be matched to any theme you want! For these cutouts I used adhesive squares to attach the XOXO and it worked perfectly as a removable adhesive.

I used the Cricut again to create the chair decorations. I love when chairs at weddings have “bride and groom” on them so I thought it’d be fun to try that out for a kid’s party. Another new favorite, decorating chairs is probably going to be a regular for me now!

For desserts I wanted to have a few selections for the kids to choose from without going full dessert table. I tried my hand at sugar cookies using royal icing and I was so excited with how they turned out! If you haven’t tried this cookie set from Sweet Sugarbelle yet, you have to! I’m certainly no professional, but it’s fun to feel like I can create cookies to match any theme now!

I also made the chocolate covered strawberries that are pictured. It was SO easy and I’ve made them about 5 times since.

My oldest niece is obsessed with doing crafts so I thought it’d be fun to have the kids decorate these miniature milk cartons. I made them using my Spellbinders Platinum 6 and Milk Carton die but I’ve seen them ready-made here. I also included washi tape, twine, patterned paper, and Valentine cutouts to be used as decorations for the milk cartons.

These baskets were a Target dollar spot find and they’re my favorite! I’ve used them as a beverage caddy, party favor caddy and now craft caddy. I painted the handle pink to match this party but I can’t wait to make them over again for the next party!

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, something about that red and pink color combo is just the cutest! I hope this party gives you some ideas for your next celebration. Happy planning!

I’m a stay at home mum, and an aspiring photographer. I love taking care of my home and my family, and I also adore photography. Apart from being a mummy (/nurse/teacher/confidant am I right?), I also write on this blog full time, and I’m working towards opening a photo studio (fingers crossed!)
